There are at least 8 different kinds of Manitowoc commercially used Ice Cubes. While all might essentially do the same thing, the difference between Ice Cubes are designed for different situations as listed below:
Half Dice:
Hard, clear ice cube with unique shape. Produced with vertical evaporator for maximum efficiency. Maximum cooling with nearly 100% ice to water ratio.
Good for: General use. Better than Full Dice for blending/crushing
Full Dice:
Hard, clear ice cube with unique shape. Offered in modular and undercounter ice machines. Maximum cooling with nearly 100% ice to water ratio. Perfect for maximum cooling, slow melt, and quick production.
Good for: General use
Regular Cube:
Hard, clear ice cube with unique shape. Maximum cooling with nearly 100% ice to water ratio.
Good for: General use
Tubular Nugget:
Softer, chewable texture with good cooling. Cylindrical shaped nugget with longer pieces and 90% ice quality, tubular nugget is ideal for dispensing applications.
Good for: Self serve drinks dispensers
Nugget:
Softer, chewable texture is easy to chew but hard enough to be dispensed without hand scooping.
Good for: Drinks
Flake:
Small, soft pieces of ice with a 73% ice to water ratio. Forms around object without bruising and holds in place without tipping/spilling. Perfect for food and beverage presentation, preservation and hand scooping into drinks.
Good for: Food and beverage presentation
Crushed:
Manitowoc dice or half dice cubes crushed into small pieces using a Manitowoc ice machine and a Servend beverage dispenser equipped with icepic™ ice crusher. Provides a selection of crushed or cubed ice from a single ice maker/ice-beverage dispenser combination. Maximum cooling with nearly 100% ice to water ratio.
Good for: Drinks
Gourmet:
Hard, clear individual ice cube with unique octagon shape 1-3/8” x 1-3/8” dimension, maximum cooling with nearly 100% ice to water ratio. Premium beverage companion with its crystal like appearance.
